National Tree Day for Schools

In conjunction with Pine Rivers Catchment, we will be hosting a number of the local schools at Rob Akers Reserve. Mulch will be spread, plants put in the ground and then followed by a BBQ for the students.

This marks the 10th year of planting koala food trees for the National Tree day for Schools.

It all started at Kurwongbah State School on 28th July 2016. This was the day when UniSC trialled 12 dwarf kabiana koala food trees. Sue, Carole and Richard Green along with Kimberley dug holes and prepped the site. Sue organised a plaque for the site. Since then, the venues have been 

• 2017–2026 Rob Akers Reserve, Strathpine 
• 2023 Graham’s Road, Strathpine 
• 2021 Eddie Hyland Reserve, Lawnton
• 2024-2025 Pine Rivers State High School

For the upcoming event we would like to thank the City of Moreton Bay for contributing plants from Kumbartcho. Also, Councillor Jim Moloney, Division 8, for covering the cost of food and drinks. TK Tree Services for providing the mulch and Koala Action for their donation to costs.
