A community event was held at Pine Rivers Park on 24th January. We held a Bear Hunt to help educate people about Koalas in the area, (who in fact are not bears). Two groups were taken on walkabout to learn facts about koalas and how you can spot them in the wild. Looking for poo on the ground, scratch marks on the trees, as well as a search for a camouflaged body in the branches.

Depending on which group you were in, there were 4 or 5 spotted on the walks.

A raffle was held with a back-to-school prize worth $250. It was won by young Mack with the blue ticket B22. He was still there with Dad to take the prize home with him.

There was also a competition to correctly guess the number of koala poo in a jar (who needs jelly beans). Amazingly, 2 children were one each side of the correct number. They decided to split the prize by tipping out all the chocolates and taking one at a time until they were all split.
