EGG-stravaganza Day Out
05th April 2026
By Lynn Docchar
What a great turnout for our third annual FREE Community Egg Hunt, held 4th April at John Oxley Reserve. Big thank you to all our members who gave their time to organise or assist on the day. Not forgetting our human koala, Courtney, who walked around in the stifling suite. A huge one especially for Tracy, who managed to get local businesses to donate the thousand or so chocolates and oversaw the organising.
Queues for Face painting, Pin the Tail on the Bunny, Egg-n-Spoon Races, 3-legged Races along with Photo Props that kept the crowds entertained for the first hour. Of course, they were just the lead up to the main event everyone was there for.

A smaller area was cordoned off for the younger children. The bigger kids were sent to the other side of the park. Plastic eggs to collect and swap for the real thing. Right on 4pm they were let loose. It didn’t take the human vultures long to clean up the two areas and load their baskets/hats/bags with all they could grab.
They took their booty back to the sign-in desk to swap for their chocolate prizes. Despite concerns from those at the end of the line, we didn’t run out of chocolate!!!
Prizes were also awarded for best dressed. There were Easter bonnets, costumes, bunny tails and dresses with bunnies. Thank you to everyone who made the effort.

Please note faces of children were only used where the parent authorised, where uncertain they have been obscured within the photo.
