One of the objectives of Pine Rivers Koala Care Association Inc. is to educate the residents of and visitors to the district on all aspects of the koala. As part of our ongoing mission, we provide education to all areas of the community. We often have stands at local events, handing out pamphlets at Bunnings, Pine Rivers Show and similar to raise awareness of the koala's plight in our region.
Educating the public on the signs of disease, making people dog-aware in koala habitat and explaining why your dog shouldn't be off leash in areas that aren't designated dog-off-leash. It is your responsibility as a dog owner to be familiar with the City of Moreton Bay Councils Local Laws. (Read further here).
Attending schools to give talks to the children or groups like Scouts and Guides, increasing their knowledge of the plight of the koala and what to look for when they're out and about. We're relying on the next generation to help koalas survive. Below, the Aspley Junior Girl Guides made koala masks at the completion of an information talk from one of our volunteers. All volunteers require a Blue Card due to the government regulations now surrounding children. Read more about Blue Cards here .
